New Delhi, Dec 7 (NationPress) Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta on Sunday commemorated the legacy of former Mizoram Governor Swaraj Kaushal, emphasizing his commitment to public service and the nation's welfare.
“Today, the PSOI Club in Chanakyapuri, New Delhi, held a sincere tribute to the late Shri Swaraj Kaushal Ji, the father of the notable MP Smt. Bansuri Swaraj Ji, by presenting floral offerings at his prayer gathering,” CM Gupta shared on X.
“Shri Swaraj Kaushal Ji's humble, exemplary, and compassionate nature will be forever cherished. As the former Governor of Mizoram, a distinguished legal scholar, and a Rajya Sabha MP, his unwavering dedication to the public as an exceptional karma yogi will always remain in our hearts,” she expressed following her attendance at the prayer service.
“We implore the Almighty to grant his soul a place at His divine feet and to provide comfort and strength to his daughter Smt. Bansuri Swaraj Ji and their family during this trying period,” she added.
Kaushal, who was married to the late Union Minister Sushma Swaraj and the father of BJP MP Bansuri Swaraj, passed away on Thursday at the age of 73.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed his sorrow over the loss, stating in a social media message, “I am saddened by the passing of Shri Swaraj Kaushal Ji. He made a mark as a lawyer and was committed to enhancing the lives of the underprivileged through his legal expertise.”
Reflecting on Kaushal’s contributions, the PM noted, “He became India’s youngest Governor and left a significant impact on the people of Mizoram during his term. His contributions as a Parliamentarian were also remarkable. My thoughts are with his daughter, Bansuri, and the rest of the family in this sorrowful moment.”
Kaushal succumbed in the afternoon following a medical complication. He was admitted to the AIIMS Emergency Department at 10:45 a.m. in critical condition. The emergency medical staff promptly commenced resuscitation efforts, but despite their best efforts, he was declared dead at 1:50 p.m., as per a statement from the hospital.
