New Delhi, June 26 (NationPress) In a striking display of unwavering commitment to combat drug-related issues, the Delhi Police on Thursday concluded the ‘Nasha Mukt Bharat Pakhwada’ by obliterating over 1,629.4 kg of illegal substances valued at Rs 3,274.5 crore in the global market.
The timing of this event coincided with the International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking.
The destroyed narcotics comprised 961.9 kg of Ganja, 542.9 kg of Cocaine, 6 kg of Heroin, 5.4 kg of Opium, and 18 kg of Alprazolam. This destruction took place at Biotic Waste Solutions Pvt. Ltd., located in Jahangirpuri, under the watchful eye of the Lieutenant Governor of Delhi and senior police officials, including Special CP Crime Devesh Chandra Srivastva.
Moreover, around 92 kg of illicit drugs confiscated by the Rohini and New Delhi Districts, which included 87.5 kg of Ganja, 2 kg of Heroin, 2.6 kg of Charas, along with various tablets and injections, were also destroyed.
This large-scale destruction supports the broader initiative under the ‘Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan’, introduced under the guidance of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah, with the goal of cultivating a drug-free India.
Since the campaign's inception, the Delhi Police has eliminated 43,019 kg of narcotics valued at Rs 10,520 crore.
During the two-week period from June 12 to 26, the Delhi Police executed ‘Operation Kavach 8.0’, raiding 1,040 locations across 15 districts, leading to the arrest of hundreds involved in drug, liquor, and arms trafficking. More than 5,100 individuals were preventively detained.
