New Delhi, July 13 (NationPress) On Sunday, Delhi Assembly Speaker Vijender Gupta informed Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar about the various initiatives aimed at modernizing the legislature's operations.
During their meeting at the Vice President’s residence, Gupta presented a special booklet titled ‘100 Days of the 8th Delhi Legislative Assembly – Marching Ahead with Legacy and Development’.
Gupta detailed the Assembly's shift to a fully digital framework under the National e-Vidhan Application (NeVA), which is an ambitious step towards a paperless environment that aims to enhance legislative transparency, boost operational efficiency, and enable real-time communication among members.
Moreover, he mentioned the launch of a 500 kW Solar Power Project at the Assembly premises, which is set to allow the entire complex to run on renewable energy, a significant stride towards environmental sustainability.
This project aligns with national energy conservation objectives and sets a notable example for green public infrastructure.
Gupta also proposed turning the Delhi Assembly into a heritage complex that preserves its architectural and historical significance while incorporating modern amenities.
The vision is to evolve the Assembly into a lively civic space that promotes public engagement and represents the living history of Delhi’s democratic journey.
Vice President Dhankhar expressed appreciation for these initiatives and extended his best wishes for the ongoing strengthening of democratic institutions at the state level.
Previously, Union Minister of Tourism and Culture Gajendra Singh Shekhawat pledged support for the development of the Delhi Legislative Assembly into a Living Heritage Site of national significance.
In a letter to Speaker Gupta, Shekhawat stated: “We are eager to collaborate closely with your office to preserve this historical marvel and unlock its full cultural potential for the people of Delhi and the nation.”
He emphasized that the Delhi Assembly Building is a critical landmark symbolizing the rich political legacy of our nation and is an enduring architectural and historical icon. Gupta's proposal to establish the campus as a vibrant heritage hub is both timely and appropriate.
This correspondence follows a meeting between the Speaker and the Union Minister held on June 3, which focused on ongoing development initiatives.
