The gathering, organized by the Art, Culture, Languages, and Tourism department, aimed to devise strategic plans for establishing Delhi as a global cultural and tourism hub.
Participants included representatives from various promotional agencies, media experts, and branding consultants.
Minister Mishra welcomed attendees, emphasizing that this initiative is more than mere advertising; it aims to showcase Delhi’s rich heritage, diversity, historical significance, and modern culture to the world.
The meeting focused on creating a roadmap for the “Branding Delhi” campaign, designed to elevate the city as a central point for culture and tourism and to represent it as a modern and prosperous capital.
While discussing the campaign, Mishra stated, “Delhi's identity is deeply connected to its historical legacy, vibrant arts and culture, and inclusive mindset. It’s time to collaboratively build a strong brand that showcases Delhi’s pride globally.”
He expressed the Delhi government's vision to transform the city from a mere transit stop to a global tourism hotspot. “It is crucial to promote even the lesser-known attractions of the city widely. We want to encourage both domestic and international tourists to extend their stays in Delhi and explore its rich historical, religious, and cultural landmarks,” he added.
The Minister encouraged agencies to contribute ideas and advocated for a participatory, transparent, and innovative approach to the campaign.
Participants engaged in detailed discussions on branding elements like digital media promotion, international partnerships, and the global showcasing of cultural events.
As part of the Delhi government’s Budget for 2025-26, Chief Minister Rekha Gupta has allocated a substantial budget to position Delhi as a “Developed Capital.”
The proposed key initiatives under this campaign include hosting an International Film Festival, an Investment Summit, and developing a New Tourism Circuit.
