New Delhi, July 31 (NationPress) Delhi Education Minister Ashish Sood emphasized the government's commitment to vocational education for school students, stating that more than 4.2 lakh students have enrolled in various vocational training programs during the current academic year.
While presiding over a Vocational Placement Drive, Employment Fair- 2025-2026, hosted by the Education Department at Sarvodaya Vidyalaya, Rohini, Sood remarked, “The objective of the Delhi government is to ensure that every student is not only prepared for academic learning but also equipped for skill-based education and the challenges of the future.”
As part of this placement initiative, more than 30 employers including HCL, Haldiram, Citikart, Navgurukul, and Tech Mahindra have extended job offers to students who completed their vocational education along with Class 12 in 2024-25 or earlier.
He also engaged with representatives from these companies to discuss the selection process for government school students, including salary and other benefits.
Moreover, Sood conversed with the students about their future prospects with these companies, aiming to connect them with the broader society.
The Education Minister stated that this program is more than just a placement drive; it symbolizes the significant progress that vocational education has made in Delhi's government schools, showcasing the government's dedication to providing every student with a dignified and promising future.
Sood mentioned that this initiative aligns with the objectives of the National Education Policy 2020, which emphasizes integrating academic and vocational training.
During this event, MLA Rajkumar Chauhan, the Education Secretary, and the Director of Education, along with parents and company representatives, were also in attendance.
Sood described this drive as a remarkable opportunity for students to connect with industries, helping them understand career options and the expectations of the business world.
He further noted that initiatives like Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas are creating numerous employment opportunities, enabling confident and knowledgeable youth to access various job prospects.
Additionally, he asserted that in the future, the Delhi government aims to bridge the gap between government and private schools by upgrading infrastructure, enhancing opportunities, promoting equality, and improving learning outcomes for students.
In the next five years, the Delhi government plans to rapidly introduce smart classrooms, robotics, data science, ICT labs, and personal computers for students in classes 9 to 12 across all Delhi schools.
