New Delhi, Oct 1 (NationPress) On the significant occasion of Mahanavami, marking the ninth and concluding day of the Sharadiya Navratri, devotees nationwide came together in vast numbers to offer their prayers to Goddess Siddhidatri, the ninth incarnation of Goddess Durga, revered as the bestower of all supernatural powers (siddhis).
In Varanasi, an immense crowd of devotees congregated at the Siddhmata Temple located in Siddhamata Gali near Golghar from the early hours. The air was filled with the resonant chants of "Jai Mata Di" as worshippers brought offerings including coconuts, hibiscus garlands, red chunris, and sweets.
“This is the Navami tithi of Ashwin Shukla Paksha, the last day of Navratri. On this day, devotees traditionally pray to Goddess Siddhmata,” explained Mahant Prem Shankar, the temple priest. “We believe that she grants both spiritual and material blessings to her devotees.”
As the temple doors opened following the Mangala Aarti, the premises vibrated with devotional chants. Special rituals and pujas were taking place. Religious texts assert that even Lord Shiva received all siddhis through the worship of Goddess Siddhidatri.
In Jharkhand’s Ramgarh, numerous devotees assembled at the Rajrappa temple to honor the ninth form of Durga, conducting hawan and mantra recitations, and indulging in communal feasts (bhandaras).
In Bilaspur, Chhattisgarh, a similar spirit was evident at the Shri Naina Devi Ji Temple, where many devotees engaged in special hawan rituals and puja ceremonies. The temple management had made extensive arrangements to accommodate the influx of worshippers.
Meanwhile, in Delhi, the renowned Jhandewalan Temple saw a significant rush of devotees seeking the divine blessings of the Goddess.
“Everyone's wishes are fulfilled here. I have been visiting for years,” shared one devoted attendee, highlighting her steadfast faith.
To ensure safety and manage the crowds, local authorities across various cities deployed security personnel and volunteers. With the conclusion of Navratri, preparations for the upcoming Dussehra celebrations are now in full swing.
