Jammu, Nov 22 (NationPress) On Saturday, the Jammu and Kashmir Police took action by attaching the property of a notorious drug dealer, valued at Rs 22 lakh, located in the Udhampur district.
A statement from the police revealed that the movable assets belonging to Mohd. Yousaf, a resident of Pulwama district in the Kashmir Valley, were seized under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.
During an inquiry into a case filed at the Police Station Rehambal, the accused, identified as Mohd. Yousaf Joo from Wuyan, Pampore in Pulwama, was found to possess a Toyota Innova vehicle.
The police stated, "Based on the evidence gathered during the investigation, the Investigating Officer believes that this vehicle was acquired through the illicit profits of drug trafficking."
Consequently, the property has been seized under the appropriate provisions of the NDPS Act for further judicial processes.
The seized vehicle's estimated value stands at Rs 22 lakh.
As part of ongoing efforts to combat narcotics-related crimes, Udhampur Police has attached properties totaling Rs 12 crore this year.
The police emphasized that this reflects the Udhampur Police's dedication to fostering a drug-free community and safeguarding youth from the dangers of addiction.
In a separate operation, police in Jammu apprehended four individuals from whom they recovered a heroin-like substance, a car, a motorcycle, and an electronic weighing scale.
The arrested individuals, all hailing from Jindrah, had possession of varying amounts of the heroin-like substance, with Rohit Jamwal having 2.11 grams, Abhishek Jamwal with 1.55 grams, Arvind Singh possessing 2.23 grams, and Aditya Singh also with 2.23 grams.
Jammu and Kashmir Police, along with security forces, are conducting rigorous operations against drug traffickers, dealers, and those involved in hawala money schemes and other illegal financial activities.
There are concerns that the money generated from these illegal activities ultimately supports terrorism in Jammu and Kashmir.
