Is the ECI Acting as an RSS Extension? K’taka Congress MLC on Bihar Results

Synopsis

In a startling statement, Karnataka Congress MLC B.K. Hariprasad accused the Election Commission of India of acting as a unit of the RSS, influencing Bihar's election results. This claim raises questions about the integrity of India’s electoral system. As political figures respond, the implications of such allegations could reshape future strategies.

  • B.K. Hariprasad claims ECI acts like an RSS unit.
  • 65 lakh voters' names removed from Bihar rolls.
  • Allegations raise concerns about democracy in India.
  • Political leaders emphasize respecting the mandate.
  • Congress plans to strategize for future elections.

Bengaluru, Nov 14 (NationPress) Karnataka Congress MLC B.K. Hariprasad claimed on Friday that the Election Commission of India (ECI) behaves like an extension of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) and facilitated the NDA’s triumph.

“Paradoxically, this is an excellent outcome. I extend my congratulations to the Election Commission of India for these results. Kudos to the agency. Approximately 65 lakh voters' names were excised from the electoral rolls in Bihar, and these results are a testament to the Election Commission's actions,” he stated.

Hariprasad further asserted that the Election Commission is undermining democratic standards and functioning like an RSS unit.

“The BJP is inherently linked to the RSS. The ECI is engaged in eroding the nation’s democratic framework. If they have eliminated the names of 65 lakh voters during the state assembly elections, it would not be an exaggeration to regard this as a significant achievement by the Election Commission,” he remarked.

When queried about the public's indifference towards the agitation initiated by the Congress and INDIA bloc comrades concerning the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) process, Hariprasad mentioned that with citizens being denied the right to vote, no conclusions can be drawn from their reactions.

“Had citizens been permitted to exercise their voting rights, the outcomes would have been different,” he added.

He also alleged that the removal of 65 lakh names from the voter registry was primarily to prevent opposition to the BJP from casting their votes. In this regard, he congratulated the Election Commission for their performance.

Reacting to the setback for the Mahagathbandhan in the Bihar Assembly elections, Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah stated that one must respect the people's mandate.

Commenting on the Bihar Assembly election results, Deputy Chief Minister and Karnataka Congress President D.K. Shivakumar expressed that they will accept whatever mandate the populace has delivered.

“We will use this as a lesson to formulate new strategies moving forward,” he concluded.

Point of View

It's essential to recognize the gravity of B.K. Hariprasad’s allegations against the ECI. While such claims warrant scrutiny, we must also ensure that the discourse remains objective, fostering a healthy democratic dialogue. The integrity of the electoral process is paramount, and all stakeholders must engage constructively.
