Bengaluru, Oct 18 (NationPress) The Karnataka BJP has strongly criticized the Congress-led state government for what they allege is a deliberate campaign against the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) and its supporters. The Leader of the Opposition, R. Ashoka, accused the government of removing RSS banners and flags in Chittapura town, located in Kalaburagi district. He provocatively questioned, "Is Chittapur in India, or is it the personal territory of the Kharge family?"
It's noteworthy that AICC President Mallikarjun Kharge originates from Kalaburagi, and his son, Minister for RDPR, IT and BT Priyank Kharge, oversees the district.
Ashoka continued his critique, stating, "The municipality granted permission for the RSS foot march, and the necessary advertisement tax was paid, complete with a receipt. Yet, Minister Priyank Kharge chose to remove the saffron banners overnight. Do you see yourself as the Nizam of Chittapur, or perhaps a Razakar?"
He added, "Spouting hatred towards the RSS may win favor with the fake Gandhis, but don’t imagine you can turn Chittapur into your own Republic. This ‘Emergency-style’ game won't endure for long," Ashoka cautioned.
In response to the government's decision to suspend the Panchayat Development Officer (PDO) for attending an RSS event in Raichur, Tejasvi Surya, the National President of BJP Yuva Morcha and MP for Bengaluru South, declared he would represent the suspended officer in court to contest the order.
Taking to social media platform X, Tejasvi Surya remarked, "I've communicated with the officer who was suspended for participating in the RSS Pathsanchalan. I assured him that I will personally appear before the appropriate tribunal and courts to challenge this unlawful suspension."
He emphasized, "Numerous high court rulings affirm government employees' rights to engage in RSS programs. I am confident this unjust suspension will be overturned. If the Siddaramaiah government seeks a legal confrontation, we are prepared to oblige."
It is worth mentioning that the Karnataka Rural Development Department suspended Raichur PDO Praveen Kumar KV for attending an RSS event in uniform, citing violations of civil service conduct regulations.
State BJP President and MLA B.Y. Vijayendra accused the local government of employing feudal-style politics to stifle freedom of expression. He criticized Minister Priyank Kharge for perpetuating a culture of hatred against the RSS and pro-Hindu organizations, which had legally secured permission for the RSS procession celebrating its centenary.
"Last night in Chittapur, municipal personnel removed saffron flags, buntings, and banners that were lawfully installed for the procession. This action undermines the very foundation of democracy. The intentional hindrance of the RSS centenary celebrations is highly reprehensible," he stated.
"The BJP will act as the voice of the people to challenge what they describe as the so-called Republic of Kalaburagi, which is being orchestrated from Chittapur, and to uphold the sanctity of democracy and the Constitution. Minister Priyank Kharge, intoxicated by power, should recognize this undeniable truth: 'No one who has provoked patriots has ever endured,'" Vijayendra concluded.
