Enhancing Citizens' Quality of Life with Essential Amenities: Fadnavis Urges Officials

Mumbai, Jan 9 (NationPress) Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis on Thursday instructed the state urban development department to guarantee that all vital and high-quality amenities are accessible in 423 cities within Maharashtra to enhance the citizens' quality of life.

During discussions regarding the 100-day plan of the urban development department, Fadnavis emphasized that while allocating funds for the enhancement of these cities, solid waste and sewage management must be prioritized.

He advocated for establishing a transparent policy for sewage processing in the cities and its subsequent reuse.

Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, who oversees the urban development minister's portfolio, stated that tax revisions should occur regularly to prevent unexpected financial burdens on citizens.

The urban development department plans to concentrate on developing policies for the sustainable growth of cities, introducing innovative strategies to empower urban local bodies economically, implementing administrative reforms, promoting e-governance initiatives, and enhancing tax revenue for urban local bodies.

In a separate meeting evaluating the 100-day plan of the soil and water conservation department, Fadnavis instructed the department to construct watersheds from the ground up and prioritize tasks to be completed before the upcoming monsoon within the next hundred days.

Fadnavis noted that ongoing initiatives under schemes such as Pradhan Mantri Krishi Sinchan Yojana, Jalyukt Shivar Abhiyan, Silt-free Dam and Silt-filled Shivar Yojana, Adarshgaon Yojana, and the construction of new water conservation projects, as well as the revival and repair of former Malgujri lakes, should be expedited.

He urged that proposals for future schemes be submitted to the government without delay for approval. He also directed the department to devise suitable plans for expanding the irrigation area in the state, hasten the completion of pending projects, and organize recruitment and training to enhance the efficiency of the workforce within the department.

Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde mentioned that the task of removing silt from dams should be finalized by March, and this silt should be utilized in agriculture.
