Ujjain, Jan 18 (NationPress) - On Saturday, the Madhya Pradesh Economic Offences Wing (EOW) executed a raid at the residence of Anil Suhane, a former bank employee in Ujjain.

Reports indicate that these searches were initiated following a complaint regarding disproportionate assets linked to Suhane, who held the position of assistant manager at a state-owned bank before his retirement. A substantial team of 30 EOW officials, accompanied by police, arrived at Suhane's bungalow situated in Basant Vihar colony on Saturday afternoon.

Search operations by the state police were conducted under strict security measures around Suhane's residence, resulting in the recovery of Rs 8 lakh in cash, along with documents related to various immovable properties. In addition to the cash seized, EOW discovered a range of assets, including a four-story building, two plots of land, two shops, and three vehicles. Official sources have indicated that Suhane, who concluded his service on December 31, 2024, reportedly possesses properties valued at over Rs 5 crore, a figure that exceeds what his monthly earnings would typically justify (estimated to be around Rs 70-75 lakh).

According to sources, the EOW intends to investigate three bank lockers linked to Suhane. They have also retrieved documents that pertain to investments in commercial ventures, including real estate. EOW SP Dilip Soni informed the media that the searches stemmed from allegations of disproportionate assets against Anil Suhane, a former assistant manager of a cooperative bank.

“The EOW received a report concerning irregularities in bank loans during Suhane's tenure. Subsequently, a complaint regarding disproportionate assets was lodged, prompting these search operations. The assessment of the properties is currently in progress,” he stated.
