EPFO Provides Final Deadline Until January 31 for Employers to Submit Wage Information for Enhanced Pensions

New Delhi, Dec 18 (NationPress) The Employees’ Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO) has granted a final deadline until January 31, 2025, for employers to submit wage details pertaining to more than 3.1 lakh pending applications regarding Pension on Higher Wages.
Employers are also urged to provide responses or update the information in 4.66 lakh cases by January 15, 2025, where the EPFO has requested clarification.
The EPFO highlighted that this last opportunity is being offered due to the fact that, despite numerous extensions, over 3.1 lakh Applications for Validation of Options/Joint Options remain unresolved.
Numerous requests have been submitted by employers and their associations seeking an additional extension for the deadline to upload wage information for applicant pensioners/members.
“Considering the various representations from employers and associations, multiple opportunities were provided for online submission of wage details up to 30.09.2023, then extended to 31.12.2023, and subsequently to 31.05.2024 to facilitate the processing of applications,” the EPFO stated.
The EPFO enabled an online facility for submitting Applications for Validation of Options/Joint Options for pensions based on higher wages.
This facility was made available to eligible pensioners/members in accordance with a Supreme Court order issued on April 4, 2022.
Initially launched on February 26, 2023, the facility was supposed to be accessible only until May 3, 2023.
However, in response to employee requests, the deadline was extended to June 26, 2023, allowing four months for eligible pensioners/members to submit their applications.
A final extension of 15 days was granted to address any challenges faced by the eligible pensioners/members.
“Consequently, the new deadline for the submission of Applications for Validation of Option/Joint Options by employees was pushed to 11.07.2023, resulting in a total of 17.49 lakh Applications for Validation of Option/Joint Options being received from pensioners/members by that date,” the statement noted.
