Farmers Do Not Align with Protesters: Madhya Pradesh Minister

Bhopal, Dec 14 (NationPress) Madhya Pradesh Panchayat and Rural Development Minister Prahlad Singh Patel asserted on Saturday that farmers do not endorse the organizations staging protests in Delhi and neighboring states.

As a leader representing farmers, I have insight into their concerns. There are individuals protesting under the guise of farmers, but the reality is that farmers are not in alignment with the protestors. This was evident today in Haryana and Punjab,” the minister stated.

The Minister also emphasized that the BJP government has consistently prioritized the welfare of farmers.

“In Madhya Pradesh and nationwide, farmers have reaped benefits from the BJP government. The advantages enjoyed by farmers were facilitated by our administration,” he added.

It is important to note that protesting farmers have been stationed at the Shambhu and Khanauri borders in Punjab since February 13, after security forces obstructed their attempts to advance to Delhi.

On Saturday, Haryana Police deployed teargas to disperse farmers who were trying to breach multiple barricades set up at the Shambhu border between Punjab and Haryana.

The farmers organized protests to push for their long-standing demands, which include a legal guarantee for Minimum Support Price (MSP) for crops, loan waivers, and reforms aimed at enhancing conditions in the agricultural sector.
