Bengaluru, June 27 (NationPress) - A shocking robbery incident has emerged from the Vidyaranyapura police jurisdiction in Bengaluru. A group of six attackers assaulted a businessman with a knife and made off with Rs 2 crore in cash.
This incident took place on June 25 but has gained attention only recently. The police have apprehended two suspects related to the crime and are actively interrogating them.
Sriharsha V., a 33-year-old businessman from Kengeri New Town, has lodged a formal complaint with the police.
As stated in the FIR, Sriharsha operated a private enterprise and aimed to establish a cold-pressed oil business. He had secured Rs 2 crore for this venture through personal savings and loans from acquaintances.
To acquire machinery from Germany, he planned to convert the cash into USDT (a cryptocurrency). For assistance, he reached out to friends, one of whom introduced him to a man named Benjamin Harsha.
Benjamin claimed he could help and instructed Sriharsha to bring the Rs 2 crore in cash to MS Palya Circle in Vidyaranyapura on June 25.
Upon arrival at approximately 3 p.m., Sriharsha was accompanied by two friends. Benjamin and his associates directed them to a shop where they began counting the money using machines.
At around 4:30 p.m., a group of six to seven men stormed into the shop, threatening Sriharsha and the others while demanding the cash. When they resisted, two attackers brandished knives, threatening to kill them if the money was not surrendered.
The gang confiscated their mobile phones and stuffed the Rs 2 crore into a gunny bag.
They issued threats against reporting the incident to the police, warning of severe consequences. Subsequently, the gang locked Sriharsha, Benjamin, and the others inside the shop before fleeing.
The victims managed to escape by opening the shop's shutters. Shortly after, Benjamin and two of his accomplices disappeared, as per the FIR.
The police have registered a case, detained Benjamin and another suspect, and are questioning them. Sriharsha has indicated that he recognized the attackers and could identify them.
Ongoing investigations are in progress.
