Bhopal, Oct 8 (NationPress) Chief Minister Mohan Yadav stated on Wednesday that the state government anticipates improved collaboration and input from the Opposition during distressing incidents similar to those witnessed in Chhindwara and Betul.
The Chief Minister emphasized that both officials and public representatives share an equal obligation to provide quality services to citizens. He highlighted the government's efforts to enhance cooperation between elected officials and senior personnel in district administration and law enforcement.
“It is undeniable that in the aftermath of such tragedies, where children's lives are lost, inquiries from the opposition or media become critically significant,” Yadav remarked during a press briefing following the conclusion of the Collectors Commissioners Conference in Bhopal on Wednesday.
Deputy Chief Minister Rajendra Shukla, who was in Nagpur assessing the situation, mentioned that five children hospitalized are in critical condition, while 20 have sadly succumbed due to kidney infections linked to a “contaminated” cough syrup.
Shukla informed that a police team from Chhindwara has traveled to Kancheepuram in Tamil Nadu to apprehend the owner of the company producing Coldrif cough syrup.
“In total, 20 children—17 from Chhindwara, two from Betul, and one from Pandhurna—have tragically passed away,” said Shukla, also serving as the Deputy Chief Minister.
Currently, two children are being treated at AIIMS, two in a government facility, and one in a private hospital in Nagpur. Everyone is making earnest efforts to save these children's lives,” Shukla stated.
It is noteworthy that the opposition Congress has been vocally addressing this issue, attributing the children's deaths to government negligence and demanding accountability from high-ranking officials and Health Minister Rajendra Shukla.
