Lucknow, July 21 (NationPress) Mayawati, the chief of the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP), called on the central government to maintain a constructive approach to the discussions surrounding ‘Operation Sindoor’, which was initiated following the tragic Pahalgam massacre. This appeal comes as the monsoon session of Parliament commenced today.
In her statement on X, Mayawati expressed concern that the session should not mirror the disappointments of previous ones, which were hindered by chaos, conflict, and a lack of valuable discourse.
“It is essential to engage in substantial discussions and achieve outcomes on crucial national and public interest matters, avoiding hostility between the government and the opposition,” she emphasized.
Mayawati underscored various urgent issues, including inflation, poverty, unemployment, women’s safety, and escalating communal and regional tensions.
She advocated for meaningful debates in Parliament that would contribute to shaping long-term policies aimed at fostering the nation’s peace and progress.
“Parliament needs to operate effectively to tackle challenges related to both internal and external security, ensuring the aspirations of millions of struggling Bahujans are not thwarted,” she stated.
The BSP leader further noted the swiftly evolving global political and economic scenarios, which present new challenges to India’s democracy and sovereignty.
“Addressing such matters requires more than just political will and vigilance from the government; it is crucial to involve the opposition and the citizens of the country,” she added.
Advocating for unity beyond party affiliations, Mayawati insisted that both the government and opposition must collaborate on issues concerning national security.
“The protection of the nation -- including its people and borders -- ultimately rests with the government. However, the opposition must also adopt a cooperative stance, prioritizing national interest over politics,” she concluded.
The monsoon session of Parliament began on Monday, amid expectations of vigorous debates as the opposition gears up to challenge the government on various aspects. The government has stated its readiness to address all pertinent issues.
