Gandhinagar, Oct 26 (NationPress) Residents of Gujarat can now avoid the hassle of repeatedly visiting police stations for updates on their complaints. Thanks to the I-PRAGATI initiative -- Intelligent Progress Reporting and Grievance Addressing through Technology Initiative -- the state government is delivering real-time case updates directly to complainants via SMS.

Since its inception on May 14, I-PRAGATI has dispatched millions of SMS notifications to residents statewide, ensuring timely and precise information. This system not only spares citizens from unnecessary visits to police stations but also allows officers to concentrate more on investigations rather than administrative inquiries, as highlighted in official reports shared on Sunday.

Introduced in May by Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel, with the oversight of Deputy Chief Minister Harsh Sanghavi and DGP Vikas Sahay, this system is designed to enhance the transparency, efficiency, and citizen-friendliness of police operations.

The initiative automatically sends SMS alerts to complainants at every critical phase of their cases -- such as FIR registration, panchanama, notifications, arrests, bail updates, property recovery, and charge-sheet submission.

Officials noted that this initiative has bolstered public confidence in the police by fostering transparency and accountability throughout the legal process. It also generates a digital record of all updates, enabling senior officials to monitor cases more effectively.

The government claims that the I-PRAGATI initiative brings numerous practical advantages for citizens.
