Gandhinagar, Oct 13 (NationPress) Currently, Gujarat is observing a week-long ‘Vikas Saptah’, featuring a series of theme-driven events that celebrate 24 years of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s impactful public service journey.
Among these festivities, the “Krushi Vikas Diwas” is set to take place on October 14-15, focusing on introducing farmers to modern agricultural techniques, innovative technologies, and effective practices.
The event will be inaugurated statewide by Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel and Agriculture Minister Raghavji Patel.
Regarding the Rabi Krushi Mahotsav 2025, Agriculture Minister Raghavji Patel highlighted that the Mahotsav will be held at 261 district- and taluka-level sites across Gujarat as part of the ‘Vikas Saptah’. The inauguration will witness the presence of MPs, MLAs, and senior governmental officials.
Approximately 300,000 farmers from across the state are anticipated to attend the two-day Rabi Krushi Mahotsav. During the event, notable farmers and livestock owners will receive special recognition from the administration.
Distribution of assistance sanction letters and orders worth around ₹500 crore will be conducted for over 500,000 farmer beneficiaries.
Moreover, agricultural scientists and specialists will provide technical support to farmers regarding crop sowing during the Rabi season in their respective regions. Progressive farmers and representatives from Farmer-Producer Organisations (FPOs) will also present talks on various pertinent subjects.
The Minister added that farmers will be educated on modern agricultural methods and organic farming for Rabi crop cultivation through interactive dialogues, demonstrations featuring cutting-edge agricultural technologies, and briefings on various schemes aimed at benefiting farmers.
The Animal Husbandry Department is also set to host free animal health camps at multiple locations over the two-day period, catering to livestock owners.
About 2,800 exhibition stalls will be established, showcasing products from progressive farmers, organic farming techniques, modern agricultural technologies like drone usage, soil and agricultural testing, farmer-focused research, and raising awareness about the utilization of contemporary fertilizers.
It is worth noting that in 2005, then-CM Narendra Modi inaugurated a new tradition of Krushi Mahotsav, aimed at facilitating direct interaction between agricultural scientists and farmers, addressing their challenges, offering expert advice, introducing innovative farming techniques, and conducting research based on farmers' concerns.
