Gurugram, Feb 14 (NationPress) In a significant operation targeting 33 vehicle owners and drivers, the Municipal Corporation of Gurugram (MCG) has filed 29 FIRs and imposed a fine totaling Rs 22.39 lakh for the illegal disposal of waste and debris in public spaces.

The MCG established the Sanitation Security Force (SSF) to address the increasing challenges of waste management and cleanliness in the region. In addition to filing FIRs under various legal provisions, the SSF has also confiscated vehicles used to disrupt the cleanliness efforts in the city.

As per Dr. Balpreet Singh, Additional Commissioner of MCG, the act of discarding debris or trash in public areas is a punishable offense. To mitigate such actions, the SSF is conducting continuous surveillance, operating around the clock, seven days a week. "During this monitoring effort, 29 FIRs have been lodged against 33 vehicle owners and drivers at different police stations, while 158 vehicles have been fined, accumulating a total of Rs 22.39 lakh," Singh reported.

Singh noted that these measures were implemented during ongoing inspections at various sectors, including 31, 32, 10, 22, 42, 25, 34, 59, 48, and 43, and locations such as Airtel building, Gwal Pahari, IFFCO Chowk, Krishna Chowk, around Sheetla Mata Mandir, and others. He mentioned that numerous vehicles from neighboring districts, which previously dumped waste illegally in the city, have departed due to the SSF's persistent oversight.

In the past week, monitoring efforts have been intensified, resulting in the SSF team issuing fines to 23 vehicles, totaling Rs 3.61 lakh.

The Additional Municipal Commissioner has urged the people of Gurugram to help in keeping the city clean and beautiful. "Do not hand over the waste or debris generated at your location to those who irresponsibly dispose of it. If debris arises from construction or demolition at your site, please contact the mobile helpline at 9015339966 or the WhatsApp helpline at 8368356611 for proper disposal arrangements," he advised.
