Gurugram, March 6 (NationPress) The Chief Minister of Haryana, Nayab Singh Saini, chaired a meeting focused on reviewing several development initiatives in the Gurugram district on Thursday. He directed relevant officials to accelerate the execution of significant state government projects and guarantee their on-time completion.
He emphasized that officials should ensure high-quality execution while maintaining a rapid pace, avoiding any complacency in the development efforts. Present at the meeting were Industry and Commerce Minister Rao Narbir Singh, Sohna MLA Tejpal Tanwar, Chief Secretary Anurag Rastogi (participating via video conference), and Principal Advisor D.S. Dhesi.
Upon receiving a comprehensive report concerning sewerage, drainage, sanitation, water supply, construction and demolition (C&D) waste, and road systems from the relevant departmental officers, the Chief Minister noted that infrastructure development is crucial for unlocking new avenues of progress in the district.
He urged all departments to collaborate effectively and adhere strictly to the set timelines for these projects. Furthermore, he pointed out that, given the government's accountability to the public, it is vital that officials frequently monitor the advancement of all ongoing development projects.
In instances where delays arise due to the responsible agencies, he stated that penalties should be enforced, and FIRs should be lodged. While evaluating the cleanliness protocols in the corporation area, the Chief Minister remarked that Gurugram serves as a key engine for the state's economic growth.
He stressed that it is our shared moral obligation to ensure the city remains clean and attractive. To tackle workforce issues, the Chief Minister suggested engaging sanitation workers as necessary in relevant areas through the Haryana Kaushal Rozgar Nigam (HKRN).
The meeting also encompassed detailed discussions regarding the enhancement of the door-to-door garbage collection system within the corporation area. In instructing the officers of the Gurugram Metropolitan Development Authority (GMDA), the Chief Minister insisted that all road renovation efforts must be concluded promptly to guarantee a seamless and safe traffic system for the public.
He mentioned that there is still sufficient time before the monsoon season, thus urging officers to ensure completion of the work by the end of June.
The meeting further disclosed that the GMDA oversees 284.5 km of road, with renovations on 135 km already finished. Following the lifting of GRAP restrictions, renovation projects on an additional 100 km of roads began on February 15 and are anticipated to be completed within the stipulated timeframe.
The Chief Minister instructed that the removal of C&D waste be expedited along with the upgrading of the drainage system and metro expansion project, while ensuring transparency and effectiveness in their execution. The meeting also revealed that the current water requirement of 270 cusecs in Gurugram is being fulfilled through the GWS and NCR channels. However, there is a necessity to remodel the GWS canal to accommodate the district's future water needs.
A proposal has been made to redesign the canal and transform it into a pipeline, which will not only resolve issues such as water leakage but also guarantee improved water quality due to the covered structure.
The estimated total cost for this project is around Rs 3,000 crore. The Chief Minister indicated that, in light of Gurugram's escalating water demands, a separate allocation for this project will be included in the forthcoming budget.
During the meeting, Industry and Commerce Minister Rao Narbir Singh mentioned that before initiating any road renovation work in Gurugram, the de-silting of drains along the roads should be finalized. He urged that officials must ensure consent from the respective Resident Welfare Association (RWA) is obtained prior to proceeding with any development work in the vicinity.
Responding to a question regarding the budget, Saini noted that this is the first budget of the third government. Consequently, suggestions were solicited from various stakeholders.
"The government has received over 10,000 suggestions through the portal, which includes input from women, entrepreneurs, progressive farmers, horticulturists, and startups. Efforts are being made to ensure the budget aligns with the expectations of the state's populace," he stated.
