Hazaribagh (Bihar), June 29 (NationPress) The Pradhan Mantri Matsya Sampada Yojana (PMMSY) has paved the way for residents of the city to embark on small yet lucrative business ventures, exemplified by Savitri Devi, a determined woman who overcame challenges to establish her own enterprise with the aid of government funding.
In an inspiring conversation with IANS, Savitri Devi shared her journey through difficult times, ultimately leading to the creation of her successful business, with strong backing from her family members.
Currently, she operates a thriving ice plant business and has successfully created job opportunities for numerous locals and villagers.
Her husband, Jodhan Prasad, stated to IANS that the ice plant business represented a pivotal moment in their lives, laying the groundwork for their self-sufficiency and creating employment opportunities for villagers.
He detailed, “The total investment for establishing the ice plant was Rs 80 lakh, with the government contributing a subsidy of Rs 48 lakh.”
Jodhan also expressed that without assistance from the scheme, they would not have been able to launch the plant.
Discussing the operational capacity and job creation through the plant, he added, "Previously, I struggled to find work, but now I manage a successful business. We are employing over 32-35 individuals."
He noted that the business generates a monthly revenue of Rs 1 lakh, significantly improving their fortunes and those of future generations.
“Sixty percent of the ice produced is supplied to fishermen while the remaining forty percent goes to other businesses. The cost to produce one block of ice is Rs 30, yielding a profit of Rs 70,” he revealed.
Both Jodhan and Savitri expressed their heartfelt thanks to the Prime Minister for initiating an investor-friendly scheme, acknowledging that without government backing, their journey towards 'atmanirbharta' would not have begun.
The Pradhan Mantri Matsya Sampada Yojana (PMMSY) was introduced by PM Modi to foster growth in the fisheries sector, aiming to achieve the Blue Revolution through the sustainable and responsible advancement of India's fisheries.
