Health Condition of Farmer Leader Jagjit Dallewal Worsens: Punjab AAP

Chandigarh, Dec 25 (NationPress) A group of leaders from the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), led by Punjab party President and Cabinet Minister Aman Arora, visited the Khanauri border on Wednesday to meet with farmer leader Jagjit Singh Dallewal, who is currently on a hunger strike. They expressed that his health is deteriorating, with his kidneys and liver exhibiting signs of distress.

Concerned about his declining health, the AAP leaders urged him to consider medical treatment to sustain himself.

The delegation was composed of notable Ministers and MLAs, including Health Minister Balbir Singh, Agriculture Minister Gurmeet Singh Khuddian, and party state working President Amansher Singh Sharry Kalsi.

During a media briefing, Arora stated that both the government and the AAP are fully committed to supporting Dallewal's fight for farmers' rights.

"Jagjit Singh Dallewal is the catalyst of this movement. His struggle is legitimate, and we are united with him in solidarity. However, we have encouraged him to at least seek medical assistance if he intends to persist with his hunger strike," he elaborated.

He also reassured that Punjab's farmers will not be left to face this battle on their own.

Arora criticized the Central government for not upholding its promises made to the farming community.

"The negligence and unfulfilled commitments of the Modi government have compelled farmers to resort to such extreme actions. This situation is intolerable. The Centre needs to act responsibly and promptly address the farmers' rightful demands," he asserted.

"It is disgraceful that the Modi government continues to ignore the deteriorating health of farmer leader Dallewal and the issues raised by our farmers. Their demands are valid and must be addressed without further delay."

The AAP leader mentioned, "If necessary, we are willing to convene an all-party meeting to discuss and tackle the farmers' concerns. However, it all pertains to the Central government. They must wake up to reality. This struggle with the Central government may be prolonged, but the Punjab government is resolute in standing by our farmers until justice prevails."

State Health Minister Balbir Singh emphasized the critical need for medical intervention to safeguard Dallewal's health.

"His physical condition is worsening, with his kidneys and liver showing signs of strain. We need his agreement to provide him with essential medical care here, ensuring he can carry on his fight for farmers' rights while remaining alive and in good health," he mentioned.
