Heavy Fog Impacts Visibility Across Rajasthan

Jaipur, Jan 7 (NationPress) Heavy fog in Rajasthan has caused visibility to plummet to just 30 metres in various regions of the state on Tuesday. The Met Department has also issued alerts for dense fog and extreme cold waves expected to affect the desert state on both Tuesday and Wednesday.
In response to these severe weather conditions, the state administration has extended school holidays in 24 districts.
Residents are turning to bonfires to stay warm, as visibility continues to be greatly hindered by the dense fog covering numerous areas.
The Meteorological Centre reports that an active western disturbance is anticipated to influence Rajasthan ahead of Makar Sankranti. Between January 10 and 12, districts in the Jaipur, Bharatpur, Bikaner, and Ajmer divisions are likely to see cloudy skies, with light to moderate rainfall expected in various locations.
A fog alert was issued for regions including Alwar, Bharatpur, Ajmer, Dausa, Jaipur, Sikar, Sriganganagar, Bikaner, and Hanumangarh on Tuesday.
In the past 24 hours, dense fog across Rajasthan, particularly in Sriganganagar and Hanumangarh, has caused maximum temperatures to plunge to 10°C on Monday, disrupting daily life throughout the state.
Following the weather advisory, winter vacations for students in classes 1 to 8 have been prolonged in 23 districts, including Jaipur. In Alwar, Sriganganagar, Hanumangarh, Behror-Kotputli, Sawai Madhopur, Bikaner, Khairthal-Tijara, Jhunjhunu, Jhalawar, and Churu, school holidays have been extended until January 11, whereas in Kota, Deeg, Bharatpur, Dholpur, Baran, and Chittorgarh, holidays will last until January 9.
The state government has declared holidays in Jaipur, Karauli, Bhilwara, Deedwana-Kuchaman, Beawar, and Tonk until January 8, while in Deedwana-Kuchaman, holidays for students up to class 5 have also been extended until January 8.
Additionally, rain is likely to occur in the Bikaner, Bharatpur, and Jaipur divisions between January 10 and 12.
Cold wave conditions and fog are also prevalent in numerous areas of neighboring Haryana, with some cities experiencing rainfall, further contributing to the chill.
