Bhopal, July 1 (NationPress) The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecasted intense rainfall across many regions of Madhya Pradesh, particularly affecting the Gwalior-Chambal, Rewa, and Sagar divisions.
The weather agency has issued an orange alert for the following districts: Gwalior, Bhind, Morena, Sheopur, Datia, Umaria, Dindori, Katni, Mandla, and Panna. An orange alert indicates the potential for moderate to heavy downpours.
According to projections, these areas could experience rainfall ranging from 2.5 to 8 inches within the next 24 hours starting Tuesday.
Heavy precipitation is also anticipated in Narmadapuram, Chhindwara, Pandhurna, Seoni, and Balaghat.
The monsoon has successfully reached all 55 districts of Madhya Pradesh, with recorded rainfall being at least 37 percent above normal as of June 30.
While the Indore and Ujjain divisions are expected to see light rain at various times over the next day, the state capital, Bhopal, and Jabalpur are expected to remain dry on Tuesday.
Nonetheless, Bhopal has been under a cloudy sky since early morning, with light drizzle reported. The maximum and minimum temperatures in Bhopal are projected to be between 29 and 23 degrees Celsius on Tuesday, according to meteorological reports. The rainfall has also resulted in a decrease in daytime temperatures across the state.
As per IMD data, rainfall has been recorded in Shahdol, Gwalior-Chambal, Rewa, and Sagar divisions over the past 24 hours.
Dr. E. Surendran, a senior weather scientist at the divisional IMD office in Bhopal, noted that the monsoon is actively traversing the state. Additionally, secondary cyclonic circulation systems are impacting weather conditions. The IMD indicated that a low-pressure system over Gujarat's Saurashtra and Kutch regions is currently active, which may influence Madhya Pradesh within the following 48 hours.
In light of the heavy rain forecast for the upcoming days, Chief Minister Mohan Yadav has instructed officials to make all necessary preparations to ensure public safety. He has also advised close monitoring of all religious sites throughout the state.
