Chennai, Nov 11 (NationPress) The Regional Meteorological Centre (RMC) in Chennai has predicted that heavy rainfall is likely to occur in one or two locations within Tirunelveli, Tenkasi, and Kanyakumari districts of Tamil Nadu on Tuesday.
Additionally, the weather department suggests that Ramanathapuram and Thoothukudi districts could face moderate to heavy rainfall on Wednesday, November 12.
According to the latest weather bulletin, isolated regions in southern Tamil Nadu may experience intense downpours, accompanied by thunder and lightning. This weather phenomenon is attributed to moisture-laden winds from the southwest interacting with local heat conditions.
This weather activity is anticipated to persist over the next 48 hours, particularly affecting the coastal areas and adjacent hilly regions.
In contrast, Chennai is forecasted to remain under partly cloudy skies throughout the day, with light to moderate rain and thunderstorms expected in certain areas, especially during the evening and night.
“The sky condition in Chennai will stay partly cloudy. Light to moderate rain along with thunder and lightning may occur in select localities,” the RMC bulletin indicated.
As per predictions, the maximum temperature in Chennai is expected to be around 32 degrees Celsius, while the minimum temperature will vary between 25 and 26 degrees.
Coastal humidity is projected to remain elevated, leading to a warm and sticky feel during the day. The department has advised both the public and local administrations in southern districts to be vigilant for sudden heavy rain and to avoid waterlogged or low-lying areas.
Farmers and fishermen are encouraged to keep a close watch on updates from the meteorological department before engaging in agricultural activities or sea-bound ventures.
Weather officials noted that with the northeast monsoon still active, intermittent rains are expected across various parts of Tamil Nadu throughout the week, providing relief to dry areas but also presenting a risk of localized flooding in some regions.
