New Delhi, July 24 (NationPress) A Himachal Pradesh BJP delegation, led by Leader of Opposition Jairam Thakur, convened with Union ministers, including Home Minister Amit Shah, to discuss the extensive damage to public and private infrastructure, including roads and bridges, caused by recent natural calamities, as well as the ongoing relief efforts.
Home Minister Shah assured the delegation of his intent to visit the affected state personally to evaluate the situation. State unit chief Rajiv Bindal mentioned that J.P. Nadda, the national party President, had been informed about these developments.
On July 9, J.P. Nadda visited the Mandi district to survey the disaster-stricken villages. Following this, the delegation, under Nadda's leadership, met with Union Minister of Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari, who committed to providing all necessary assistance for the repair and reconstruction of national highways.
Subsequently, the team met with Home Minister Shah for in-depth discussions regarding the calamity. Shah affirmed that the NDA government, under Prime Minister Narendra Modi, had historically provided substantial financial assistance to Himachal Pradesh, and this support will continue.
“There will be no shortage of funds for relief work,” Shah reassured.
Earlier, Union Minister Nadda, hailing from the hill state, consulted with Nitin Gadkari to seek support for the restoration of damaged roads.
Nadda remarked that the Central government is committed to leaving no stone unturned for Himachal Pradesh, stating, “Every road impacted by the disaster will be repaired with utmost urgency.”
He revealed that the Centre has allocated Rs 201 crore in the initial phase for the state under the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (MNREGA).
“This funding will expedite the construction of drains, pathways, roads, and various other projects at the panchayat level,” he concluded.
