Mandsaur, Sep 13 (NationPress) A serious mishap was narrowly averted during the hot air balloon ride of Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav at the Gandhi Sagar Forest Retreat on Saturday morning.
Due to strong winds, the balloon failed to take off, and unexpectedly, a fire ignited in the lower section while the Chief Minister was still on board.
Quick action from the security personnel ensured the fire was extinguished promptly, allowing for the safe evacuation of Chief Minister Yadav.
Fortunately, there were no injuries reported. Various media outlets aired the incident, including footage of the balloon.
In a video message, the District Collector clarified, "This was not an accident as some reports suggested. All safety protocols were adhered to during the Gandhi Sagar festival. The hot air balloon was introduced as a new attraction, and CM Yadav was simply there to partake in it. No significant incident occurred."
Prior to this, the Chief Minister had stayed at a resort to promote eco-tourism and evaluate local infrastructure.
He intended to embark on an aerial tour in the balloon early in the morning, but wind speeds reached 20 kilometers per hour, keeping the balloon on the ground.
It was during this period that the fire erupted at the balloon's base, triggering an immediate response from the ground staff and security team.
The trolley carrying the Chief Minister was secured, and the fire was brought under control before it could escalate.
Before the "balloon incident," the Chief Minister enjoyed a picturesque boat ride on the Chambal River, appreciating the region's natural beauty.
CM Yadav expressed his admiration for the landscape and highlighted the significance of sustainable tourism.
On Friday evening, he shared his boat ride experience on his X handle, stating, "Before this, I had the chance to experience the tranquil beauty of the Chambal River through boating and biking. These moments reminded me of the vast potential our natural heritage holds for eco-tourism. Such activities not only provide joy and adventure but also foster a deeper connection with the landscapes that define Madhya Pradesh."
