Kolkata, Sep 7 (NationPress) A controversial video emerged on Sunday, featuring a Trinamool Congress MLA who threatened BJP leaders with acid attacks unless they cease referring to Bengali-speaking migrant workers as illegal Bangladeshi or Rohingya infiltrators.
The MLA in question is Abdur Rahim Boxi, representing the Malatipur Assembly constituency in Malda district, located in northern West Bengal.
In the video, Boxi ominously declares that acid will be poured down the throats of BJP leaders.
This alarming threat was reportedly made during a public assembly held on Saturday evening in Malatipur, aimed at protesting the alleged mistreatment of Bengali-speaking individuals, particularly migrant workers, within BJP-governed states. Several prominent leaders from the ruling party in Malda were also in attendance.
“Recently, a BJP legislator labeled a segment of the migrant workers from West Bengal as Rohingyas and Bangladeshi infiltrators. I warn him that I will pour acid down his throat in such a manner that his voice is silenced forever,” Boxi asserted.
He further threatened to gouge out the eyes of the BJP legislator. “The eyes through which the BJP leader perceives the people of West Bengal as Bangladeshis will be plucked out,” Boxi stated.
While Boxi did not explicitly mention the name of the BJP legislator, it was inferred to be Shankar Ghosh, the Chief Whip of the BJP’s legislative party in the West Bengal Assembly. Ghosh had previously referred to incidents involving illegal Bangladeshi infiltrators being identified across various states.
During this event, Boxi also urged the public to boycott the BJP and to destroy their party flags.
“People from West Bengal face harassment and even death in BJP-ruled states. Those affiliated with the BJP in West Bengal are mute on this matter. Such individuals cannot remain in the BJP within the state,” Boxi commented.
So far, the leadership of the Trinamool Congress has refrained from commenting on this incident.
The BJP leadership has responded, asserting that Boxi's remarks are not surprising, as this behavior reflects the culture of the Trinamool Congress.
