Cairo, June 4 (NationPress) An all-party Indian Parliamentary delegation, led by Supriya Sule of the Nationalist Congress Party-Sharadchandra Pawar (NCP-SP), met with Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty. They expressed appreciation for Egypt's unequivocal condemnation of terrorism, highlighting India's strong commitment to combat this global issue, as stated by the Indian Embassy in Egypt.

During their two-day visit to Egypt, which began on Tuesday, the delegation engaged with various leaders, intellectuals, and opinion makers in an interactive session moderated by Nabil Fahmy, former Egyptian Foreign Minister.

They reiterated India's firm stance against terrorism while welcoming Egypt's steadfast condemnation of such acts, as noted in a press statement shared on social media platform X.

Following a successful tour in Qatar, Ethiopia, and South Africa, the delegation, including BJP MP Rajiv Pratap Rudy, Aam Aadmi Party MP Vikramjeet Singh Sahney, Congress MP Manish Tewari, BJP MP Anurag Singh Thakur, Telugu Desam Party's Lavu Sri Krishna Devarayalu, Congress MP Anand Sharma, BJP MP and former Minister of State for External Affairs V. Muraleedharan, and former Ambassador Syed Akbaruddin, arrived in Cairo on Monday.

On the second day of their Egyptian visit, the delegation, led by NCP-SP MP Sule, continued discussions with high-ranking political figures, Arab League representatives, and intellectual communities.

Both nations acknowledged the increasing momentum of the India-Egypt Strategic Partnership and reaffirmed their united stance against terrorism, according to the press statement.

The Indian delegation expressed heartfelt gratitude for Egypt's strong condemnation of the recent terror attack in Pahalgam, as detailed in the statement.

Minister Abdelatty reiterated Egypt's solidarity with India and expressed a desire for deeper bilateral collaboration on counter-terrorism efforts.

The delegation also met with Ahmed Aboul Gheit, Secretary General of the League of Arab States, discussing India's extensive political, economic, and cultural ties with the Arab world. Both sides emphasized the urgency of collective efforts to combat terrorism.

Earlier that Tuesday, the Indian delegation paid respects at the Heliopolis War Memorial in Cairo, honoring the many Indian soldiers who sacrificed their lives during the World Wars, which symbolizes the historical bonds and shared sacrifices between India and Egypt, as per the Indian Embassy's statement.

During a significant interaction led by Nabil Fahmy, the delegation engaged with notable Egyptian intellectuals and media figures.

The delegation reiterated India's principled stance and collective determination to fight terrorism, acknowledging Egypt's unwavering support.

Members of the delegation were featured in interviews with prominent Egyptian media, discussing India's vision on counter-terrorism, regional cooperation, and people-centered diplomacy.

Earlier on Tuesday, the Indian Embassy posted on X, stating: "The high-level multi-party delegation from India, led by MP Supriya Sule, visited the Heliopolis War Memorial in Cairo to honor the immense sacrifice of numerous Indian soldiers during the World Wars. The memorial stands as a testament to shared sacrifice and historical ties between India and Egypt. The delegation members also signed the visitor's book at the Cemetery that includes the Heliopolis (Port Tewfik) Memorial and the Heliopolis (Aden) Memorial."

The delegation aims to update international partners about India's response to the April 22 Pahalgam terror attack and its broader counter-terrorism efforts while engaging with leaders in key nations.
