India Enhances Security Measures at Bangladesh Diplomatic Missions Amid Rising Protests

New Delhi, Dec 2 (NationPress) India has intensified its security protocols for the Bangladesh High Commission located in New Delhi, as well as its Deputy and Assistant High Commissions throughout the nation, in response to an escalating wave of protests against the atrocities faced by the Hindu community in the neighboring country.
Following a demonstration near the office of the Assistant High Commissioner (AHC) of Bangladesh in Tripura earlier today, the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) emphasized that diplomatic missions must not be targeted under any circumstances.
"The incident earlier today involving a breach at the Bangladesh Assistant High Commission in Agartala is profoundly regrettable. Diplomatic and consular properties should remain protected at all costs. The government is taking necessary measures to enhance security at the Bangladesh High Commission in New Delhi and its Deputy/Assistant High Commissions in the country," stated the MEA.
In recent days, numerous protest rallies have occurred in Tripura against the persecution of the minority Hindu community in Bangladesh.
On Monday, hundreds of activists gathered outside the AHC office to present a memorandum demanding the interim government in Dhaka to ensure the safety of Hindus in Bangladesh along with their properties.
The demonstrators also noted that thousands of Hindus had sacrificed their lives during the 1971 Bangladesh Liberation War and have significantly contributed to the nation's development post-independence.
The memorandum appealed to the International Human Rights Commission, the United Nations, and other nations to intervene in the situation in Bangladesh and halt the atrocities against Hindus.
Previously, Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha, Leader of Opposition Jitendra Chowdhury, and former minister and senior Congress leader Birajit Sinha separately called upon the Bangladesh government to put an end to the persecution of Hindu minorities.
One of the largest private healthcare facilities in Agartala has decided to cease services for Bangladeshi patients following protests from local activists.
This decision by the Agartala hospital mirrors a similar action taken by a private hospital in Kolkata, which recently declared it would stop medical treatment for Bangladeshi patients due to the same concerns.
The Hindu minority in Bangladesh has faced severe attacks from Islamist groups following the establishment of the interim government led by Chief Advisor Muhammad Yunus.
Last week, after the arrest and denial of bail to Chinmoy Krishna Das, a spokesperson for the Bangladesh Sammilit Sanatan Jagran Jote associated with Iskcon Bangladesh, India highlighted numerous documented incidents of arson, theft, vandalism, and desecration of deities and temples affecting minorities in Bangladesh.
