New Delhi, June 23 (NationPress) In the context of the ongoing Operation Sindhu, an additional group of 285 nationals has safely arrived here, increasing the total number of Indians evacuated from Iran to 1,713.
This extensive evacuation occurs against the backdrop of escalating conflict in the Middle East, especially between Iran and Israel.
The recent evacuation flight, which touched down late Sunday night, included passengers from various Indian states, such as Delhi, Bihar, Gujarat, Uttar Pradesh, Maharashtra, and Jammu and Kashmir.
Coordinated by the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA), this operation highlights the government's unwavering commitment to the safety of its citizens overseas.
BJP spokesperson Yaser Jilani commended Prime Minister Narendra Modi's decisive leadership and prompt action.
"In Operation Sindhu, India has once again demonstrated that the safety of its people is its utmost priority. Under the robust leadership of Prime Minister Modi, the third batch of citizens returned to India yesterday. This shows that while nations globally are concerned for their citizens in conflict zones, India prioritizes the safety of its own," he stated.
"As the conflict escalates, India is increasingly serious about ensuring the safety of its citizens and is implementing on-ground measures to facilitate their return," Jilani further added.
Due to the closure of Israeli airspace amid ongoing tensions, numerous Indians remain stranded in Israel.
Authorities have urged them to register with the Indian Embassy in Tel Aviv and obtain the necessary documentation to cross land borders into Jordan and Egypt. From there, India is expected to conduct additional evacuation flights.
Simultaneously, the Indian Embassy in Iran continues to support citizens in relocating from areas facing heightened conflict to safer locations.
The embassy is actively coordinating evacuation efforts using available transport and closely monitoring the ongoing situation.
Indian nationals in Iran are being advised to maintain contact with the Indian Embassy in Tehran through its emergency helpline or the 24/7 Control Room established by the MEA in New Delhi.
