Stockholm, June 11 (NationPress) Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal stated on Wednesday that India-Sweden cooperation is set to propel innovation, entrepreneurship, and sustainable growth towards a brighter future.
The Union Minister arrived in Stockholm for a three-day official visit to Sweden, following a notably successful two-day trip to Switzerland.
"I am enthusiastic about engaging with Sweden's leadership, business sector, and vital stakeholders to uncover new opportunities and fortify our longstanding relationship," Goyal expressed on the social media platform X.
With over 280 Swedish firms operating in India and more than 80 Indian enterprises in Sweden, he mentioned that "the prospects for collaboration are enormous."
This visit aims to enhance the existing strong economic ties and identify fresh avenues for growth that align with India's long-term economic ambitions and global partnerships.
The minister's trip to Sweden follows a productive visit to Switzerland, which focused on advancing India–Switzerland economic collaboration and implementing the Trade and Economic Partnership Agreement (TEPA) signed earlier this year between India and the European Free Trade Association (EFTA).
During the second part of his official tour, the minister will co-chair the 21st Session of the Indo-Swedish Joint Commission for Economic, Industrial, and Scientific Cooperation (JCEISC) with Benjamin Dousa, the Minister for International Development Cooperation and Foreign Trade.
Goyal's itinerary also includes bilateral discussions with Dousa and Hakan Jevrell, State Secretary to the Minister of Development Cooperation and Foreign Trade. He will engage with the Indian diaspora and participate in media interactions, thereby strengthening people-to-people connections and articulating the vision for the India-Sweden partnership.
Previously, the Minister had extensive discussions with Swiss industry leaders across various sectors, including biotechnology and pharmaceuticals, healthcare, precision engineering, defense, and emerging technologies. As India progresses towards its goal of becoming a $5 trillion economy, this visit has paved the way for intensified collaboration with innovative and trusted partners like Switzerland.
