New Delhi, June 4 (NationPress) In a significant move against unauthorized automated ticket bookings, the Indian Railways announced on Wednesday that its AI-driven system has successfully disabled 2.5 crore suspicious user IDs linked to ticket purchases.
Furthermore, an impressive milestone was achieved on May 22, with a record-breaking per-minute booking rate of 31,814 tickets, demonstrating the enhanced capabilities and scalability of the revamped platform.
The Ministry of Railways stated that new user protocols have been implemented to promote fairness and efficiency.
"Users who are not verified via Aadhaar can only book Opening ARP, Tatkal, or Premium Tatkal tickets three days after registration, while Aadhaar-authenticated users can book tickets immediately," it highlighted.
These initiatives have led to noticeable improvements, with average daily user logins increasing from 69.08 lakh in FY 2023–24 to 82.57 lakh in FY 2024–25, marking a 19.53 percent increase, while average daily ticket bookings rose by 11.85 percent during the same timeframe.
Moreover, E-Ticketing now represents 86.38 percent of all reserved ticket bookings.
The Indian Railways is undergoing a comprehensive digital transformation of its ticketing system. By utilizing advanced anti-BOT technology and collaborating with a leading Content Delivery Network (CDN) service provider, the Railways has successfully minimized unauthorized automated bookings by unscrupulous agents and improved genuine user access to the website.
The upgraded system has effectively eliminated all bot traffic, which peaks during the initial five minutes of Tatkal bookings, where bot traffic can make up to 50 percent of overall login attempts.
This AI enhancement guarantees improved accessibility for authentic users.
"System upgrades include serving 87 percent of static content via CDN for faster loading times and reduced server load; actively detecting and mitigating bot traffic using sophisticated AI algorithms, and proactively deactivating suspicious user IDs while allowing complaint submissions via the Cyber Crime Portal," the ministry reported.
