Mumbai, June 10 (NationPress) Eknath Shinde, the Deputy Chief Minister of Maharashtra and a prominent leader of the Shiv Sena, commended Prime Minister Narendra Modi for his visionary governance, asserting that India is on the brink of emerging as an economic superpower.
While celebrating the NDA government's 11-year milestone, Deputy CM Shinde emphasized that under PM Modi's guidance, India's global economic standing has significantly improved -- escalating from the 11th position before 2014 to the 4th place today, with aspirations to soon become the world's third-largest economy.
He underscored the transformative leadership of the BJP-led NDA government that replaced the era of corruption associated with the Congress party.
"Prior to 2014, the nation was marred by scandals such as the Fodder scam, 2G Spectrum scam, Coal scam, and the Commonwealth Games scandal. Conversely, the past 11 years under PM Modi have showcased transparent and decisive governance," he stated.
Shinde credited PM Modi for propelling India towards self-sufficiency in vital sectors like defense and space technology.
"India has achieved self-reliance in defense production. Warships and BrahMos missiles are now manufactured domestically. Additionally, Rafale fighter jets will be produced in India in collaboration with the Tata Group," he remarked.
The Deputy CM also highlighted India's elevated global reputation in science and space exploration.
"We have successfully reached the moon's South Pole, and our Mars missions are setting international standards," he added.
"This represents a new India -- daring, capable, and esteemed on the global platform."
Shinde criticized the opposition, stating, "While Congress spent 50 years advocating poverty alleviation, PM Modi's policies have resulted in tangible benefits. In a decade, 27 crore Indians have moved above the poverty line. Free rations are being distributed to 80 crore individuals, and the construction of 141 airports has surged from just 74 in 2014."
He also praised women-centric initiatives such as Lakhpati Didi, Drone Didi, Ujjwala Yojana, Jan Dhan Yojana, and Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao, which aim to empower women through financial inclusion and dignity.
"The 33 percent reservation for women in various fields, educational reforms, and programs like Shetkari Samman Yojana reflect PM Modi's commitment to inclusive growth," he stated.
Critiquing the opposition parties in the state, Deputy CM Shinde noted, "In Maharashtra, voters choose those who deliver results, not those who merely criticize. Despite ongoing challenges during my tenure as Chief Minister, the public supported me and dismissed my adversaries."
Taking a pointed shot at Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, the Shiv Sena leader remarked, "Rahul Gandhi's criticism of PM Modi is akin to spitting at the sun -- it has no impact."
