New Delhi, Nov 11 (NationPress) In the wake of a devastating blast near the Red Fort Metro Station in Delhi that resulted in the deaths of at least eight individuals, the private airline IndiGo issued a travel advisory on Tuesday. They are urging travelers to arrive at airports earlier than usual due to the implementation of increased security protocols.
"We have instituted enhanced security measures across all airports. We strongly recommend our customers to arrive early to ensure there is sufficient time for entry checks, security screenings, and check-in processes," the airline stated on its official X account.
After the explosion that transpired on Monday evening, security across the national capital has been significantly ramped up.
"Passengers might be subjected to secondary security checks before boarding, as mandated by regulatory requirements," stated IndiGo.
"We value your understanding and cooperation, and we are eager to welcome you aboard. Wishing you safe travels," the airline added.
The explosion occurred when a Haryana-registered vehicle, a Hyundai i20, was parked near Gate No.1 of the Red Fort Metro Station.
In the aftermath of the incident, high alerts have been issued in Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, and Mumbai, with amplified security measures around crowded public spaces and religious sites.
This incident came shortly after law enforcement in Faridabad dismantled a terror module linked to Ansar Ghazwat-ul-Hind and Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM), confiscating 2,900 kg of explosives along with a substantial cache of weapons and ammunition.
Sources indicate that agencies are investigating a module member named Umar, who is believed to be the driver of the exploded vehicle. They suspect he may have intentionally caused the explosion or that it occurred unexpectedly near the Metro Station.
Investigation teams are currently determining the reason behind Umar's presence in the Red Fort vicinity.
