Contaminated Water Blamed in Indore Man's Death: Family's Plea
Synopsis
Key Takeaways
New Delhi, Feb 25 (NationPress) In a tragic incident, a 54-year-old individual named Ramnaresh Yadav passed away following his alleged consumption of contaminated drinking water in the Bhagirathpura locality of Indore. This event has raised significant concerns regarding the prevalence of suspected water-borne diseases in the area.
Yadav had been struggling with various health issues for over two weeks and was admitted to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) for 15 days before he succumbed to his ailments on Tuesday.
In a statement to IANS on Wednesday, his daughter, Prerna Yadav, asserted that the contaminated water was a direct cause of her father's severe health complications.
“He first experienced diarrhoea, followed by a water-borne infection that led to the spread of infected fluid throughout his body. He had been hospitalized in the ICU during the last 15 days,” she detailed.
The family reported that Yadav's health declined after persistent vomiting and diarrhoea resulted in extreme weakness. His daughter noted that swelling progressively appeared across his body, prompting his hospitalization.
Medical evaluations indicated that there was significant damage to his liver and kidneys. The family suspects that the infection disseminated throughout his body, culminating in organ failure and his subsequent death.
Residents in the Bhagirathpura area have been voicing concerns about contaminated drinking water causing illnesses for almost a month, with numerous individuals reportedly falling ill.
They have claimed that multiple fatalities in the vicinity may be associated with water contamination. Although earlier reports to the Assembly indicated approximately 20 deaths linked to this issue, locals suggest that the actual number could be higher.
Yadav was the primary provider for his family, leaving behind four daughters—some married and others still seeking stability.
Officials from the health department have yet to confirm the precise cause of death in this case, and further investigations are ongoing to ascertain whether the fatality was directly connected to the contaminated water.
