Shimla, March 31 (NationPress) Former Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister and Leader of Opposition (LoP), Jairam Thakur, extended his heartfelt condolences to the grieving families after a tragic landslide claimed the lives of six individuals. This unfortunate event occurred when a hollow tree was uprooted, crashing down on unsuspecting people near the Gurdwara Manikaran Sahib parking area in Kullu on Sunday.

In a statement shared on the social media platform X, LoP Thakur remarked: "The incident at Manikaran in Kullu is profoundly tragic, leading to the untimely deaths of many. My thoughts are with those affected by this calamity. I pray that God grants eternal peace to the departed souls and gives strength to their families during this difficult time."

He further added: "I hope for a swift recovery for those injured in this incident. I urge the government and local administration to accelerate the relief and rescue operations so that those impacted can receive assistance promptly."

Reports indicate that at least six individuals died, while another six sustained injuries when a hollow tree fell on them near the Gurdwara Manikaran Sahib parking area in Kullu.

Additional District Magistrate (ADM) Kullu, Ashwani Kumar, confirmed, "Six fatalities have been reported, along with five injuries due to the uprooted trees close to the Manikaran Sahib Gurudwara parking area in Kullu. Local police and rescue teams have transported five injured individuals to the nearby community hospital in Jari."

The deceased have been identified as Reena from Manikaran, Kullu district, Himachal Pradesh; Barshini from Vijay Nagar, Bangalore; and Sameer Gurung of Nepali descent. Two other victims, a male and a female, remain unidentified.

The injured include Ramesh Babu, 53, from Vijay Nagar, Bangalore; Pallavi Ramesh, 49, his wife; and Bhargav, 24, their son. Other injured persons are Tumpa Acharya, 40, from L.K. Path, Assam; and Parachi, 23, from Sector-14, Hisar, Haryana.

Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu expressed profound sorrow over the incident, according to an official statement from the Himachal Chief Minister's Office.

The Chief Minister instructed the district administration to provide all necessary support to the victims and their families.

He also emphasized the importance of ensuring top-notch medical care for those injured.
