Srinagar, Feb 12 (NationPress) The Lt Governor of Jammu and Kashmir, Manoj Sinha, presided over a crucial meeting in Srinagar on Wednesday to assess the security landscape in the Kashmir Division.
This meeting included notable attendees such as DGP J&K, Nalin Prabhat; ADGP Hqrs, MK Sinha; ADGP CID, Nitish Kumar; Principal Secretary to Lieutenant Governor, Mandeep K. Bhandari; IGP Kashmir, Vidhi Kumar Birdi; IGP Crime, Sunil Gupta; IGP Security, Sujit Kumar; IGP Railways, Vivek Gupta; as well as Range DIGs, SSPs, Commandants of AP/IR Battalions, and numerous other senior officials of the J&K Police, who participated both in person and virtually.
The DGP provided an overview of the current security situation in the valley, detailing the strategies implemented to address various security challenges, including counter-insurgency, law enforcement, protection of minorities, and terrorist recruitment across zonal, range, and district levels.
The IGP Kashmir delivered a comprehensive presentation outlining the challenges faced and accomplishments achieved in the Kashmir Zone, along with strategic foresight for future operations.
The Lt Governor evaluated the operations of different branches of the J&K Police, expressing his approval regarding the performance metrics related to crime, particularly concerning UAPA and NDPS.
L-G Sinha urged senior police officials and heads of various units to collaborate closely and enhance efforts to eradicate terrorism and those who support it.
“Under the guidance of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Jammu Kashmir is experiencing a period of tranquility, development, and prosperity. I am confident in your bravery and the effective, targeted measures you will implement to make Jammu Kashmir free from terror. Strengthened intelligence gathering, coordination, and precision in anti-terror operations are essential to tackle future security challenges,” stated the Lt Governor.
He emphasized that a comprehensive approach to combat terrorism is crucial to improving capacity and performance in all aspects of security challenges.
L-G Sinha also instructed police officers to adhere strictly to the property attachment policy in cases involving terrorism and narco-terrorism.
He called for the formulation of a results-driven strategy to identify and neutralize foreign terrorists operating in the Kashmir Valley.
Attention must be directed towards the terror ecosystem that supports adversarial forces and terrorists.
“We must adopt a zero tolerance stance against terrorism. I have granted the J&K Police and Security Forces the autonomy to dismantle the terror networks operating in secrecy. Those who fund or support terrorism will face severe repercussions,” L-G Sinha asserted.
The Lt Governor also addressed the issues related to misinformation and propaganda, instructing officials to take decisive action against perpetrators.
“Strict measures need to be enforced against individuals exploiting cyberspace for disruptive activities and misinformation campaigns. We must actively counter extremist ideologies and enforce the law,” urged the Lt Governor.
He further asked police personnel to concentrate on fundamental policing aspects, including public confidence-building, addressing grievances, and engaging with local communities.
The Lt Governor stressed the importance of nurturing a strong relationship built on trust between law enforcement and the public.
“The average citizen must feel secure. It is your obligation to safeguard the general public and take decisive actions against terrorists and their affiliates,” concluded the Lt Governor.
