Jharkhand Governor Declares 33% Quota for Women in Government Employment

Ranchi, Dec 11 (NationPress) Governor Santosh Kumar Gangwar, addressing the inaugural Special Session of the sixth Assembly on Wednesday, unveiled multiple significant initiatives on behalf of the Jharkhand government. Most notably, the Jharkhand government, led by Chief Minister Hemant Soren, has promised to implement a 33 percent reservation for women in state government employment.

The Governor also underscored the administration's dedication to developing a local policy for tribal communities and residents, ensuring 100 percent reservation in third and fourth-grade government roles.

While presenting the roadmap for the state’s development, the Governor pointed out that the Centre and its agencies owe Jharkhand a staggering Rs 1.36 lakh crore, and the state government intends to pursue legal avenues to reclaim this amount.

The address encompassed plans to promote tribal languages, aiming to incorporate Ho, Mundari, Kurukh, and other tribal languages into the Eighth Schedule of the Constitution.

Furthermore, the Governor highlighted other vital commitments that the state government will undertake, including the provision of interest-free loans for all farmers, free education from KG to PG, and the execution of the Sarna tribal religion code.

He commenced his address by congratulating the newly-elected members of the Sixth Assembly and praised the peaceful electoral process. He expressed optimism that the MLAs would demonstrate dedication to fostering a prosperous and forward-looking Jharkhand.

Emphasizing the government’s commitment to inclusive development, he reaffirmed the intention to ensure rights, security, and opportunities for all, with a specific focus on marginalized communities.

Key proposals from the previous Assembly, including a 28 percent reservation for tribals, 27 percent for Other Backward Classes (OBCs), and 12 percent for Scheduled Castes (SCs), remain pending with the Union Home Ministry. The Governor assured that efforts will be made to hasten the approval of these proposals.

The government also expressed its dedication to addressing the concerns of Sahara India investors, announcing plans to assist affected investors, including families that experienced distress due to Sahara’s financial collapse. Legal actions will be vigorously pursued to recover the public's funds.

To support farmers, the government intends to offer loans at a 0 percent interest rate and issue land receipts to farmers on non-cultivated lands.

For MNREGA workers, the state aims to enhance their wages, guaranteeing a minimum daily wage of Rs 350. Additionally, Rs 10,000 crore will be invested in optimizing river and dam water resources.

The government has proposed the establishment of 500 CM Schools of Excellence with health and music teachers, 4,500 Panchayat-level Adarsh Vidyalayas, degree colleges in each block, and polytechnics at the sub-division level.

Moreover, a Baba Saheb Bhimrao Ambedkar Library will be set up to enhance educational and knowledge dissemination.
