Srinagar, Nov 12 (NationPress) In a decisive action against individuals supporting terrorism and influencing the populace towards such ideologies, J&K Director General of Police (DGP), Nalin Prabhat, has mandated the attachment of the assets belonging to advocate Mian Qayoom, who is currently in custody.
Mian Qayoom, detained on allegations of involvement in the murder of advocate Babar Qadri, has been recognized as a key ideologue for separatists. He has frequently participated in separatist gatherings and has represented terrorists and separatists facing stringent laws like the Public Safety Act (PSA).
According to an official order from DGP Nalin Prabhat, on December 31, 2019, Mian Abdul Qayoom, the president of the Bar Association, delivered speeches against India and raised anti-national slogans during a seminar.
“He emphasized that Kashmir’s future is tied to Pakistan and advocated for the implementation of Islamic law in J&K,” the order noted.
The DGP's directive indicated that a thorough investigation led to a search of Mian Abdul Qayoom's residence, following a court-issued search warrant. During the search, incriminating evidence was discovered, including banned literature, a blank letterhead of Hizbul Mujahideen with a seal, a press document resembling Hizbul Mujahideen materials in English, a letter addressed to William Jefferson Clinton from Syed Salahhudin, and a Hizbul Mujahideen seal in Urdu. This evidence prompted the invocation of sections 38 and 39 of the UAPA in this ongoing case.
The DGP’s order stated that, under the authority granted by section 25 of the UAPA, approval has been given for the attachment of a two-storey residential property and land measuring 2 kanals, 1 Marla, and 90 sq feet located at Bulbul Bagh Barzalla in Srinagar, under FIR number 157/09 u/s 120, 120-B, 121, 153-A RPC 13, 38 and 39 UAPA of PS Shaheed Gunj Srinagar.
