Bengaluru, Nov 8 (NationPress) The former Chief Minister of Karnataka and current Member of Parliament, Basavaraj Bommai, expressed on Saturday that Karnataka is endowed with both natural riches and a welcoming attitude among its residents. He emphasized that Kannadigas are celebrated for their hospitality and openness to individuals migrating from other regions.
During the inauguration of the Kannada Rajyotsava festivities organized by Parkwest community members, Bommai remarked that India boasts a rich and ancient history, with its cultural roots stretching back over five millennia.
"India is home to the world's most ancient civilization and culture. The dawn of humanity began on this soil — it is a tremendous blessing to have been born in this hallowed land. Among India’s diverse regions, the Kannada-speaking territory is distinguished for its cultural heritage, educational achievements, and advancements. Historical inscriptions reveal that the Kannada language has been around for over two thousand years. We proudly recognize Kannada as a classical language,” he stated.
The MP highlighted that Karnataka leads the nation in producing Jnanpith Award honorees. “A total of nine distinguished authors from Karnataka have received this esteemed award, underscoring the wealth of the Kannada language,” he remarked.
Bommai pointed out that Karnataka is replete with natural resources, featuring rivers flowing from north to south, originating in the west and moving eastward. “Rivers like Krishna, Kaveri, Tunga, Bhadra, Malaprabha, and Ghataprabha enrich our land with lush greenery,” he noted.
He added that the state is rich in minerals, boasting some of the finest iron ore and gold deposits, earning it the title of the ‘Land of Gold’. “The forests here are lush, and sandalwood trees flourish naturally. Just as the land is endowed with resources, the hearts of Kannadigas are equally generous. That is why newcomers never feel out of place in this state. Kannadigas are individuals who embrace and welcome all,” Bommai remarked.
He noted that the air, water, and populace of Karnataka transform anyone residing there into a Kannadiga. “Regardless of their origins, once they settle here, they begin to feel that this state is their home,” he expressed.
Reflecting on Karnataka's illustrious history, Bommai said: “While Rani Laxmi Bai of Jhansi battled the British in 1857, Rani Chennamma of Kittur had already triumphed over them as early as 1824. We've consistently been pioneers — in struggle, knowledge, and technology.”
He asserted that for India’s future to shine, Karnataka's future must be robust. “This land excels in knowledge, science, technology, and now in Artificial Intelligence. Bengaluru, often referred to as Silicon Valley, hosts 400 of the Fortune 500 companies and 500 international R&D centers. Daily, 8,000 to 10,000 foreigners arrive in Bengaluru, and 200–300 scientists visit the city every day,” he observed.
“I extend my congratulations to all of you who have traveled from various states to celebrate Kannada Rajyotsava here. Your affection for Kannada has united you in this land. You have come together as one family and organized a remarkable event as true Kannadigas. My heartfelt congratulations to all,” Bommai concluded.
