Bengaluru, Nov 11 (NationPress) The Karnataka chapter of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Tuesday questioned whether Chief Minister Siddaramaiah is attempting to leverage political advantages amidst tragedies such as the Red Fort blast in Delhi.

In a press conference, the Leader of the Opposition in the Legislative Council, Chalavadi Narayanaswamy, expressed his disappointment regarding the Chief Minister's remarks, stating, 'It is disheartening to hear such political commentary during sensitive times.'

Narayanaswamy commented, 'Chief Minister Siddaramaiah suggested that the Delhi bomb blast would influence the upcoming Bihar elections, leading to a disadvantage for the BJP, while benefitting Congress and the INDIA alliance.'

He insisted that the Chief Minister should apologize to the public, emphasizing that matters of such sensitivity should remain separate from politics or electoral strategies.

He criticized Siddaramaiah for exhibiting a lack of responsibility and condemned his remarks strongly.

Narayanaswamy further noted, 'The Prime Minister has indicated that the response to the Delhi terrorist act will be similar to the 'Sindoor model'. Yet, some opposition Congress leaders continue to speak irresponsibly.'

'From 2004 to 2014, under the Congress-led UPA government, there were an average of 4,000 terrorist incidents annually. In contrast, after our government took power in 2014, that figure decreased to between 1,000 and 1,500 per year. So far in 2025, only 629 incidents have occurred. This clearly shows that our administration has effectively curbed terrorism.'

In addition, he mentioned that a meeting of Rajya Sabha members was held on Tuesday to discuss the upcoming Belagavi legislative session.

'We covered various topics. Legislative Council Chairman Basavaraj Horatti has indicated the session may commence on December 8, although the state government has yet to finalize any decisions,' he stated.

'We deliberated on the issues to be raised, our approach during the session, how to hold the government accountable, and to spotlight its failures, corruption, and the lack of development. The entire northern Karnataka region has faced neglect. The state government has not attended to farmers' grievances,' he charged.

Narayanaswamy remarked, 'Only after the BJP's protests did the state government provide minimal relief to sugarcane farmers. Besides issuing statements regarding flood relief, no actual funds have been allocated. Keeping all these concerns in mind, we strategized on effectively raising these issues during the session. We are prepared to challenge the government in the House.'

Responding to a question about the occurrence of events like the Delhi blasts during elections, Chief Minister Siddaramaiah remarked that the Central government must explain why such incidents happen at electoral times.

'Let the Central government conduct an investigation,' he stressed.

These statements could lead to significant controversy.

When reporters inquired why bomb blasts appear to coincide with elections, referencing the recent Delhi incident and its potential impact on the Bihar elections, CM Siddaramaiah replied, 'The Central government must clarify the reasons for such occurrences during elections. It is tragic — the loss of innocent lives is profoundly regrettable.'

When asked if India is evolving into a nation defined by a single religion, CM Siddaramaiah responded, 'India is a constitutionally pluralistic nation, not one defined by a single religion.'
