Kolar (Karnataka), May 9 (NationPress) - The Karnataka Police have initiated an FIR against an individual for labeling the Pahalgam terror attack as a “pre-planned act” orchestrated by the central government.
According to law enforcement, this FIR has been lodged against Muneer Khan Qureshi, a resident of Kumbarpet in Kolar.
Authorities revealed that the accused created and uploaded a video on YouTube, alleging that the Pahalgam terrorist attack, which resulted in 26 fatalities, was staged to polarize Hindu votes in the lead-up to the Bihar Assembly elections.
As the video gained traction on social media, the Galpete Police in Kolar took action against Qureshi under suo motu provisions. Initial investigations uncovered that Qureshi operates a chicken shop and manages a YouTube channel.
In his video, he purportedly asserted that the Pahalgam terror incident was a pre-planned act by the central government intended to secure Hindu votes in the Bihar elections. Consequently, the police charged him with attempting to disseminate misinformation, incite public unrest, and provoke communal discord.
The video has been removed from YouTube, and further inquiries are currently ongoing.
Previously, a medical college student faced legal action in Karnataka for posting a “pro-Pakistan” message on social media amidst escalating tensions between India and its neighboring country, according to police reports on Friday.
In response to significant backlash from Hindu organizations, the police registered an FIR under Sections 152 (actions jeopardizing India’s sovereignty, unity, and integrity) and 197(3)(5) (imputations and assertions detrimental to national integration) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).
The accused, identified as Tasaud Farooqui Sheik, a student at Al-Ameen Medical College in Vijayapura, had shared a message on social media urging her “Pakistani friends” to avoid military or government installations and expressed concern for their safety, finishing with a Pakistani flag.
After the FIR was filed, the accused publicly apologized to the Indian populace, expressing remorse for her actions.
In her message, she stated: “My post on Instagram has caused pain to many people. I sincerely apologize to everyone who has been hurt by my comments. I am an Indian and I love my country. This is my motherland. I was born in India, and making such comments was an act of foolishness. I once again apologize to the people. I will never repeat this mistake.” She concluded her apology with ‘Jai Hind’.
