New Delhi, June 29 (NationPress) Delhi BJP President Virendra Sachdeva launched a fierce critique against the AAP on Sunday for their stance on slum demolitions, condemning former chief minister Arvind Kejriwal's call to occupy the Prime Minister's residence as yet another indication of his anarchist and Maoist mindset.
Characterizing the Aam Aadmi Party's (AAP) rally of slum residents led by Kejriwal at Jantar Mantar as a complete failure, Sachdeva accused him of being a duplicitous leader who only pretends to care for impoverished slum dwellers.
He pointed out that while Kejriwal now claims to be an advocate for slum residents, during the pandemic, he instead forced them to leave their homes and return to their villages.
Sachdeva noted that the call to storm the Prime Minister’s residence once again revealed the troubling, Maoist-like tendencies of Kejriwal and former Delhi minister Gopal Rai, warning them that such rhetoric has no place in a civilized society.
He also criticized AAP leaders who spoke at the rally, stating that their anarchic and unconstitutional behavior was once again laid bare.
Sachdeva asserted that the Delhi government, under Rekha Gupta, has diligently served all sectors of society over the past five months, countering AAP's claims of displacing slum residents.
Accusing the ‘frustrated’ Kejriwal of trying to create turmoil in the city with false narratives, Sachdeva stated, "Looking at the Delhi government's initiatives in the past 100 days—whether it’s the launch of the Ayushman scheme or other programs—we are committed to including every segment of society.”
He added that instead of overcoming his disappointment after being rejected by the people of Delhi, Kejriwal resorts to misleading statements.
“If his intention is to incite unrest in Delhi through such claims, he must remember that there is a government that will not tolerate actions based on falsehoods,” he said.
Sachdeva mentioned that for nearly a month, the entire AAP leadership has been spreading confusion, but the slum dwellers of Delhi have dismissed this deceptive campaign.
Residents are also questioning AAP leaders: “What have you accomplished in ten years to enhance the lives of slum residents?”
Moreover, Sachdeva recalled that about five months ago, following electoral defeat, AAP leaders Kejriwal, Gopal Rai, and others incited their followers to storm the Prime Minister’s residence under the pretext of representing slum dwellers.
At that time, ordinary slum residents were asking Kejriwal: “You’ve built a ‘Sheeshmahal’ for yourself in ten years—why haven’t you provided housing for the poor in areas like Narela or Bawana?”
Sachdeva emphasized that the BJP government is dedicated to improving the lives of slum dwellers who are forced to live in dire conditions near drains and railway tracks. “Just as we have resettled slum residents from Kalkaji, Jailorwala Bagh, Kalandar Colony, and Kathputli Colony, we will continue our 'Jahan Jhuggi Wahan Makan' initiative to provide new housing and better living conditions for slum residents,” stated the Delhi BJP President.
