Kochi, Jan 15 (NationPress) A Kerala court has placed the infamous gang leader Maradu Anish in judicial custody after his apprehension during a police operation at a spa in Thrissur. Anish, who is embroiled in numerous criminal cases across Kerala and neighbouring Tamil Nadu, was unexpectedly caught during a raid targeted at a woman linked to a honey-trap scheme.

Authorities executed the raid based on credible intelligence that the wanted woman was hiding at a well-known spa in Thrissur city.

Upon conducting the search, police discovered Anish inside the establishment with a young woman, leading to his swift arrest.

Officials revealed that Anish had been eluding law enforcement for an extended period, making his capture during this operation unforeseen.

He faces multiple charges, including robbery, contract killings, kidnapping, extortion, sand smuggling, and other organized crime activities across both states.

In Tamil Nadu, non-bailable warrants are pending against him, prompting plans for his transfer to face legal actions there once all necessary procedures are completed.

The court subsequently ordered Anish to be held in judicial custody following his arrest.

Authorities indicated that they would follow legal protocols concerning his transfer to Tamil Nadu Police custody.

Investigators are also looking into whether Anish had resumed orchestrating criminal operations after a long period of hiding following his prior release.

After his arrest, Anish's family raised alarms about potential threats to his life and expressed worries about his safety during any interstate transfer.

However, police assured that they would implement adequate security measures as needed.
