Thiruvananthapuram, Oct 13 (NationPress) Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan firmly stood by his and his family's integrity following reports suggesting that his son, Vivek Kiran Vijayan, received a summons from the Enforcement Directorate (ED). Vijayan labeled these allegations as unfounded and politically motivated.
During a press conference, Vijayan emphasized that his political journey has always been marked by a “clean” record, underscoring his strict zero tolerance for corruption throughout his decade-long tenure as Chief Minister.
“When projects develop, they often encounter kickbacks, but in Kerala, such occurrences are non-existent. I take pride in that,” he stated, affirming that both he and his family, including his two children, have sustained an unblemished public image.
Vijayan asserted that his son, Vivek Kiran, is dedicated to his career and personal life, insisting that he has committed no wrongdoing that could tarnish the family’s reputation.
“There are efforts to involve my children in this narrative, but my son has done nothing wrong. I am genuinely proud of that,” he remarked.
The Chief Minister questioned the legitimacy of the media reports, asking how a summons could have been issued without his knowledge and how it reached the press.
“We have not seen any such summons, nor has my son received it. Agencies will fulfill their roles, but a distorted image is being painted to defame me,” Vijayan stated, dismissing the reports as politically charged attempts to undermine his standing.
He also referenced previous threats, stating, “Not long ago, someone informed me that a bomb was headed my way. I said we would wait, but this one is a wet cracker,” suggesting that the current allegations lack substance.
Vijayan reaffirmed his dedication to transparent governance, asserting emphatically that neither he nor his family has participated in corrupt activities.
His comments come in the wake of intensified media scrutiny concerning the SNC-Lavalin case and ED notices, as political rivals have sought to associate these developments directly with him.
