Thiruvananthapuram, May 5 (NationPress) A woman working at an Akshaya Centre in Kerala has been detained for allegedly fabricating a fake admit card for the NEET examination conducted on Sunday.
The individual, named Greeshma, was apprehended by the Pathanamthitta police on Monday morning in Neyyattinkara, a locality near the state capital, after a male candidate attempting to take the NEET exam in Pathanamthitta was detected with a questionable admit card.
The act of impersonation was uncovered when an invigilator at the Pathanamthitta testing center observed irregularities in the male candidate’s admit card.
Despite being allowed to take the exam, the invigilator notified the examination center in Thiruvananthapuram for further verification.
A prompt investigation revealed that another candidate with the identical registration number was also taking the exam in Thiruvananthapuram.
The police swiftly arrived at the Pathanamthitta center and took the male candidate into custody.
According to reports, his mother, who was present at the center, informed the police that she had entrusted Greeshma with the responsibility of submitting her son's NEET application and had paid the necessary fee.
During interrogation, Greeshma confessed that she had not completed the application by the deadline and, realizing her mistake, forged an admit card which she provided to the candidate’s mother.
Following her admission, the Akshaya Centre in Neyyattinkara has been sealed.
Greeshma, who started working at the center four months ago, is currently in the custody of Pathanamthitta police, with her formal arrest forthcoming.
Akshaya Centres, managed by the state, serve as service hubs that provide citizens access to various government services, including Aadhaar registration, revenue documents, pension applications, and vehicle registration.
As NEET UG remains a crucial examination for medical aspirants, this incident of exam malpractice in Kerala highlights the weaknesses within the system.
