Bengaluru, July 30 (NationPress) In response to the Congress party's intention to organize a procession featuring Rahul Gandhi addressing alleged electoral irregularities, the Leader of the Opposition, R. Ashoka, raised the question, “on what grounds is the Congress-led administration in Karnataka permitting Rahul Gandhi’s padayatra?"
During a press conference in Bengaluru on Wednesday, Ashoka stated, “The Congress was in power during the Lok Sabha elections. If any wrongdoing took place, Rahul Gandhi should have had the foresight to approach the Election Commission with a complaint. Instead, he is coming to Karnataka to initiate a padayatra.
“Given that the High Court has prohibited any rallies or processions, how is it that they are granting permission now? If it is permitted, the BJP will also stage a protest.”
“Former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi declared an Emergency following electoral fraud. What moral authority does such a party possess to accuse others of election malpractice? Rahul Gandhi’s lack of insight is evident in his accusations against the Election Commission of India. The BJP was denied permission for padayatras in Bengaluru, so Congress should not be granted this privilege either,” Ashoka emphasized.
“Just like someone pretending that no failure has occurred, Rahul Gandhi is now making a ruckus about the electoral process. He has failed to secure double-digit representation in three consecutive Lok Sabha elections. From Kashmir to Kanyakumari, Rahul Gandhi has led the Congress party to defeat and reduced it to nothing,” Ashoka remarked.
“Now, this immature Rahul Gandhi wishes to embark on a padayatra against the Election Commission in Karnataka. What is his motive behind this padayatra? Is it an anticipatory excuse for the humiliating defeat the Congress is poised to face in Bihar after losses in Haryana, Maharashtra, and Delhi? Has Karnataka only now come to his attention?” Ashoka queried.
“When over 2,000 farmers took their own lives in the past 24 months, he remained absent. When more than 500 women and newborns died due to substandard medical care in government hospitals, he was nowhere to be found. When over 50 disadvantaged individuals ended their lives due to microfinance company harassment, he didn’t show up. When 11 innocent youths died due to government negligence during IPL celebrations, he didn’t come. Are you now here to fabricate a false narrative for your failures ahead of the upcoming loss in the Bihar elections? The people of Karnataka have grown weary of your Congress party's disgraceful antics. With what face do you arrive in Karnataka?” Ashoka challenged.
Rahul Gandhi is anticipated to visit Karnataka on August 4 or 5 to file a complaint with the State Election Commission concerning alleged electoral irregularities.
