Hyderabad, Sep 14 (NationPress) Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) working president K. T. Rama Rao criticized the Congress government in Telangana on Sunday for its inability to recover the remains of six workers from the Srisailam Left Bank Canal (SLBC) tunnel, despite it being over 200 days since the tunnel’s roof collapsed.
KTR vowed that if the BRS regains power, it will deliver justice to the six affected families and ensure that those responsible for the workers’ burial would face consequences.
“It has been over 200 days since the tunnel collapse in the Srisailam Left Bank Canal, which claimed the lives of eight innocent workers due to the blatant negligence of the corrupt Revanth government,” KTR expressed on 'X'.
He further criticized, “This ineffective Congress government has failed to recover the bodies of six victims and has not provided any compensation to their families.”
“It is astounding that the Union BJP government, which made a fuss by sending the National Dam Safety Authority team for minor issues in the Kaleshwaram Project, did not send a team to investigate the SLBC mishaps nor raised a single query regarding it. Why is the BJP always shielding the Congress in Telangana? What kind of unholy alliance is this?” he questioned.
“I promise you today, once the BRS is back in power, we will ensure that all six families receive justice, and those responsible for burying these men alive will face consequences. We will uncover the truth behind the SLBC tunnel collapse and everything else that has been compromised under Congress,” KTR affirmed.
The accident occurred on February 22, trapping eight workers inside the tunnel. Only two bodies were recovered.
The incident took place approximately 14 km into the tunnel while around 50 workers were engaged in excavation using a Tunnel Boring Machine (TBM).
The remains of Gurpreet Singh, a TBM operator from Punjab, were found on March 9, while the body of project manager Manoj Kumar from Uttar Pradesh was retrieved on March 25.
The bodies of Sri Niwas (Uttar Pradesh), Sunny Singh (Jammu and Kashmir), and Sandeep Sahu, Jegta Xess, Santosh Sahu, and Anuj Sahu, all from Jharkhand, remain unfound.
