New Delhi, July 21 (NationPress) On Monday, the Lok Sabha was adjourned until noon shortly after the Opposition began sloganeering just moments after the Monsoon Session's opening, insisting on a debate regarding Operation Sindoor.

As the session commenced, the House honored the victims of the recent Pahalgam terror attack and the Ahmedabad plane crash.

Additionally, members celebrated Indian astronaut Shubanshu Shukla for his remarkable achievement in successfully reaching the International Space Station (ISS).

However, tensions rose swiftly as multiple Opposition MPs interrupted the proceedings with slogans, demanding an immediate discussion on Operation Sindoor, despite Speaker Om Birla's assurances that the issue would be addressed after the Question Hour.

"You should give notice, and whatever the issue is, it will be discussed after the Question Hour. The House should function on the first day, and there should be a good discussion. I will provide ample time and opportunity to every MP," Birla stated, urging for order.

He further insisted that the government was prepared to discuss all matters raised in accordance with parliamentary protocol.

"You have not gathered here to raise slogans. The House operates according to the rules and regulations. All concerns raised appropriately will be addressed," he reiterated.

Frustrated by the persistent disruptions, the Speaker firmly remarked that if Opposition members were solely interested in sloganeering, they were welcome to exit the House.

With no resolution in sight, the proceedings were subsequently adjourned until noon.

Earlier in the day, Speaker Om Birla called upon all members to cooperate in ensuring the smooth operation of the House, emphasizing its vital role in promoting inclusive development, social justice, and national interests.

In a message on X, Birla expressed, "The fifth session (Monsoon Session) of the 18th Lok Sabha is commencing today. In this sacred temple of democracy, the collective role of all representatives is critically important for expressing public aspirations and safeguarding national interests."

He encouraged leaders from all political parties to engage in constructive discussions and maintain a healthy democratic dialogue throughout the session, which is anticipated to last until August 21.

Point of View

I emphasize that while the opposition's demands must be heard, the integrity of parliamentary procedures is vital. The House must function effectively to address pressing national issues, fostering a culture of dialogue over disruption.
